How do I edit photos on my iPhone perfectly?
Posted by Andris Runde
I believe that if the camera settings in the iPhone are correct, then the picture does not need to be edited or minimally edited. You can find correct camera settings in my video tutorial.
In everyday life, there is no time to edit pictures if you want to make small corrections for family, your dog or garden photos. So, I believe that iPhone photo editing options are completely sufficient.
We go through the iPhone camera app and use built in tools to edit photos. There are so many different options for editing photos, like adjusting the exposure or adding effects. If you don't like how the photo looks after edits, just tap undo and go back to the original! I use iPhone 11 for this tutorial, but the same could be applied to 12 and 13 iPhones.
Let's go through editing 2 tricks which is pretty enough to edit family photos:
1) For photo made in PHOTO/PORTRAIT / LIFE PHOTO mode: Apply filter effects
The easiest way is to apply the built-in iPhone filters to the picture. It contains combinations of best practice editing options. What to do:
Tap a photo thumbnail to view it in full screen.
Tap Edit and then tap the Filters button - 3 cirkles. Apply one of filter effects: ORIGINAL, VIVID, WARM, COOL. Some words about filter options: We have ORIGINAL, VIVID, WARM – offers golden undertones for warmer look, COOL – has blue undertones for a colder look.
Tap Done to save your changes, or if you don’t like them, tap Cancel and then tap Discard Changes.
I don’t like to spend a bunch of time editing. These built-in filters save my time and give the same effect like if I used wide edition options and spent a lot of time experimenting with them. Later I will make a video about an easy editing option, so leave your email in a live chat and I will send you an email when the video will be ready. Thanks.
2) For photo made in PORTRAIT mode (after tap Edit you will see in which mode photo is made in top of the screen): Adjust light and color
What to do:
Tap a photo thumbnail to view it in full screen.
Tap Edit, then choose - Cube and find lighting options: STUDIO LIGHT, CONTOUR LIGHT, STAGE LIGHT, STAGE LIGHT MONO, HIGH-KEY LIGHT MONO. It is designed to stimulate professional lighting techniques. Good lighting makes a bigger difference than the actual camera. You can see the effect in the preview: STUDIO LIGHT- the face is well exposed by a soft light; CONTOUR LIGHT the external areas of the face or the object are darkened a bit; STAGE LIGHT is isolated in the spotlight. The outer area is completely darkened; STAGE LIGHT MONO creates the same effect in black and white; HIGH-KEY LIGHT MONO does not darken but lightens the outer area, like a portrait against a white background. You can adjust the intensity of any lighting effect manually.
Tap the effect you want, then drag the slider to make precise adjustments.
Tap Done to save your changes, or if you don’t like them, tap Cancel and then tap Discard Changes.
